Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains what personal data La Pistache Paris uses, why, for how long, and how to exercise your rights. Personal data is any information that can identify you, directly or indirectly: a name, an email address, an IP address (the number that identifies your internet connection).

The essentials

  • You can read the whole site without giving us anything: there is no account and no required sign-up.
  • We don’t sell your data and we don’t do targeted advertising.
  • Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity only run if you accept them.
  • An anonymous counter, with no cookie, counts visits from all readers. You can opt out in one click.
  • Questions? Write to us through our Contact Us page.

Who is responsible for your data?

SED, a sole proprietorship (entrepreneur individuel, EI), SIRET 100 288 687 00013, which publishes the site (see the Legal Notice). You can reach SED through our Contact Us page or at the email address given in the Legal Notice.

The newsletter

When you sign up, we record your email address, which we need in order to send you the newsletter. To be able to prove that the sign-up really came from you, we also keep the date and time of the sign-up, the IP address used and the page where the form was.

  • Why: to send you the newsletter and, from time to time, partner emails, labeled “Partner email”, and to measure whether they are opened. The newsletter may also include partner articles, always labeled as such.
  • Legal basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time, in one click, using the unsubscribe link included in every email.
  • Who has access: our email delivery provider, Brevo, a French company that hosts its data in the European Union.
  • How long: until you unsubscribe. After that, your address is kept only on a suppression list, so that you no longer receive anything. The proof of sign-up is kept only for the 500 most recent sign-ups: older ones are deleted automatically.

Our emails contain a tracking pixel (a tiny invisible image that signals when an email is opened). It applies to the address you signed up with, on every device where you read our emails. It tells us how many of our emails are opened, without linking this information to your address. Links go through Brevo’s servers, which count clicks in the same way. If you’d rather not have a pixel, you can unsubscribe at any time, in one click.

The Contact Us form

When you write to us, we receive your name, your email address, the subject you chose and your message, along with the language and the address of the page you’re writing from. Without the required fields, we can’t reply to you.

  • Why: to reply to you.
  • Legal basis: our legitimate interest in replying to the messages we receive. Legitimate interest is a ground provided for by law, as long as it doesn’t override your rights.
  • Who has access: Brevo, which delivers your message to us, and Hostinger, which hosts our mailbox.
  • How long: the copy kept on the site is deleted automatically 12 months after it is received. Our email exchanges are deleted no later than 12 months after the last message, unless they fall under the next section.

Your IP address is not kept with your message: it is used only to limit the number of messages sent, and is erased after one hour.

If you suggest an event, a venue or a partnership to us

Organizers, venues, press officers, advertisers: when you write to us, suggest a listing or send us a press kit, we keep your business contact details and our exchanges.

  • Why: to prepare our content, review your proposals and keep track of our relationships.
  • Legal basis: our legitimate interest in working with the people who make going out in Paris happen.
  • Who has access: Hostinger, which hosts our mailbox, and Brevo if you use a form on the site.
  • How long: 3 years after our last exchange.

Information meant to be published (name of the event or venue, dates, texts, images) stays online as long as the listing exists. The contact details you give us so we can reach you are not published.

Audience measurement

The anonymous counter, for all readers

To find out which pages are read and to improve the site, a counter installed on our own server counts page views, the name of the site you came from, how much of the page you read, clicks on the site’s links and buttons, newsletter sign-ups, and ad views and clicks, for the reports given to advertisers.

It sets no cookie and records neither your IP address nor any identifier. It keeps only totals per page and per day, deleted after 25 months: so it cannot recognize you.

  • Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing what is read on the site.
  • If your browser asks not to be tracked (the “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” setting), your visits are not counted.
  • You can also opt out with the button below. Your choice is kept for 60 days in this browser: it is the only thing the counter stores there, and only at your request.

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, only with your consent

If you accept the “Analytics” category in the cookie banner, two tools are added:

  • Google Analytics, by Google, measures traffic: page views, visit length, where visitors come from, device type, approximate city or country. Your IP address is not stored. Detailed data is deleted after 14 months, and sharing your data with Google for its own services is turned off.
  • Microsoft Clarity, by Microsoft, records your clicks, scrolling and movements on the pages, to spot what gets in the way of reading (heatmaps and session replays). What you type into forms is never recorded. Replays are kept for 30 days, other data for 9 months. Microsoft also collects and uses this data under its own privacy statement.

Legal basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time with the “Cookies” link at the bottom of every page.

Both companies may process data in the United States. They take part in the Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognizes as offering adequate protection.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file stored in your browser. The full list, with how long each one lasts, is on our Cookie Policy page. In short:

  • some cookies remember the language you chose (1 year) and your choice in the banner (60 days);
  • if you accept the “Advertising and social media” category, a cookie (“pi_vus”) keeps, for 6 months, the last 20 pieces of content you read on the site and their topics, to choose the “You might also like” suggestions. It is not used to choose ads;
  • Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set their own cookies, only if you accept them.

You can change your mind at any time with the “Cookies” link at the bottom of every page.

Videos, maps, links and ads

  • Instagram and YouTube videos load only if you click on them. At that point, your IP address is sent to the service concerned, Meta for Instagram or Google for YouTube, which uses it under its own privacy policy and may process it outside the European Union. The YouTube player, in privacy-enhanced (no-cookie) mode, stores a few technical items in your browser.
  • The maps on our listings are provided by OpenStreetMap and load as soon as they appear on screen. To display them, your browser sends your IP address and our site’s address to its servers. The map sets no cookie. The OpenStreetMap Foundation is based in the United Kingdom, a country the European Commission recognizes as offering adequate protection.
  • Some links to ticketing or booking sites are affiliate links: if you buy after clicking, the partner site knows you came from La Pistache Paris, so that it can pay us a commission. What it does with your data is governed by its own privacy policy.
  • Ads are sold directly to advertisers. They are not chosen based on you.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Hostinger (Hostinger International Limited, Cyprus), on a server located in France. Hostinger also hosts our mailbox. As with any website, it keeps technical connection logs, including IP addresses, for security purposes.

  • Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the site.
  • How long: the period set by Hostinger for the security of its servers.

Your rights

At any time, you can:

  • access your data and get a copy of it;
  • have it corrected or deleted;
  • object to its use, or ask for it to be set aside while a dispute is being checked (right to restriction);
  • get back the data you gave us, in a common format (right to data portability);
  • withdraw your consent, without affecting what was done before;
  • tell us what you want done with your data after your death.

To do so, write to us through our Contact Us page or at the email address given in the Legal Notice. We reply within one month. For a complex request, this period may be extended by two months: in that case, we will let you know within the first month.

The anonymous counter’s totals, like the statistics in Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, are not linked to your name or your email address: so we cannot find them to send them to you or delete them.

No decision with a legal effect or a significant effect on you is made automatically.

If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can file a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).

Under 15

If you are under 15, a parent’s consent is required, in addition to yours, to sign up for the newsletter or accept optional cookies.

Changes

This page may change, for example if a new tool is added to the site. If there is a significant change, we will let you know, for example in the newsletter.
